Background

Machinima, Inc. was an American multiplatform online entertainment network owned by WarnerMedia (now Warner Bros. Discovery), created as a way for users to gain money for their video-game related content, specifically Machinimas. The company was founded in January 2000 by Hugh Hancock and was headquartered in Los Angeles, California. In January 2019, Machinima abruptly discontinued their YouTube channels, with their videos set to private, officially ceasing operations in February.

1st Logo (2000s-2010)

Visuals: Over a black background, there is the text saying "MACHINIMA.COM" slide in from the right. When the text nearly finishes sliding, a red square with rounded edges with a spiky letter M inside of it reveals itself. The text zooms out and places itself on the M, and a drop shadow appears behind the text. The word "ORIGINAL" appears in front of the logo.

Variant: On Terminator Salvation: The Machinima Series, "ORIGINAL" is absent.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: None, or the opening theme of the video.

Availability: It appeared on Machinima videos at the time. It also appears on Terminator Salvation: The Machinima Series.

2nd Logo (2006?-2013)

Visuals: On a grey-black background, the square from the previous logo, now in 3D, zooms out and spins. Halfway when the square finishes spinning, text saying "MACHINIMA.COM" appears behind it and forms the previous logo, except the square is smaller. The square shines, and zooms in.

Variants:

  • A later version removes ".COM".
  • Several variants using this logo exists for the various subsidiaries of Machinima operating at the time. The list of subsidiaries that have a variant goes as follows:
    • Machinima Realm: At the end of the logo, the background turns black. The logo spins around to turn into a grungy version of the Spiky M logo. The logo slightly moves up to make way for the words "REALM" to slide from the left below the logo.
    • Machinima Sports: At the end of the logo, a version of the Spiky M logo (with a design similar to that of a football) rotates inside a black background. The words "SPORTS" is below the logo.
    • Machinima Prime: The initial logo is a bit more stiff than the original logo. Towards the end, the Spiky M logo turns into a radar. The words "P R I M E℠" zoom out below the logo. The entire logo then zooms out.
    • Machinima Trailer Vault: The logo gets crushed by a vault with the Spiky M logo in it. The words "TRAILER VAULT" fade in below. The vault then opens, and the screen zooms inside the vault. On some videos provided by the subsidiary, the inside of the vault contains the first few seconds of the video.
    • Machinima Happy Hour:
      • Normal: At the end, the logo slides up to make way for the words "HAPPY HOUR", in yellow, superimposed on a brick wall background. The logo then slightly zooms in.
      • Happy Hour Arcade: Same as the normal version, but during the Happy Hour segment, the logo glitches, and rotates to reveal that it is inside a 3D arcade cabinet. The words "ARCADE" appear next to the Happy Hour text.
    • Machinima Respawn: At the end, the Spiky M logo in a differently grungy version appears, and vibrates. The word "RESPAWN" is below the logo.
    • Machinima ETC: The Spiky M logo flies behind to make way for the words "ETC" (with a blue color above the logo, and a white color below the logo) to fly in, letter by letter. The ETC logo then flies into the screen.
    • Machinima VS: The logo is quite stiff, similarly to the Machinima Prime logo. "MACHINIMA" fades out of the Spiky M logo to make way for a half red-half blue version of the Spiky M logo to 'chomp' inside the logo. The words "---VS---" is seen below the logo. The logo then zooms inside the screen.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: 2 whooshing sounds, a synth tune, and another whooshing noise in the end.
