Background

Crystal Pyramid Productions is a video production company founded in 1981 by Mark Schulze, eventually being joined by Patricia Mooney a year later.

1st Logo (2001-2016)

Visuals: On a black background, a rainbow-tinted glass prism zooms out to the left, alongside the words "<span style="color:violetCrystal Pyramid Productions">violetCrystal Pyramid Productions" row by row to the right, all while the camera slowly zoom out. The "a" in "Crystal" is shining until the last third of the sequence.

Variants:

  • On the 2014 demo reel, four copies of the logo are shown.
  • In the logo's later years, it begins with multiple, waving rainbow colored light waves beaming on a space background, spreading out while four silver pieces and the outline of a pyramid rotate in varying directions. The pyramid appears through a fade-in effect and continues to spin until said sequence crossfades into a cut version of the normal visuals, which is darker than before.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A metallic, light shining sound effect.

Audio Variants: In the logo's early years, an extended, light shining note is heard.

Availability: The logo appears on their 2009 and 2010 demo reels. The later variant appears on the "Broadcast Segments" video.

2nd Logo (September 18, 2018-November 22, 2021)

Visuals: On a bright background with a faint vignette and bokeh lights, multiple pieces of the logo fly in from various sides of the screen and into the center where a large ball of light slowly dies down. Together, they form a medium velvet red-white shaded prism next to "Crystal Pyramid Productions Award-Winning Video" in a stacked format that is also aligned to the right edge of the prism.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The same soundtrack from before.

Availability: It appears on their 2018 and 2010 demo reels, as well as their 2020 bio video.

3rd Logo (March 24, 2022)

Visuals: On a yellow vertical gradient background, A purple triangle, in four pieces divided by three horizontal bars in a brighter shades of said color, alongside two moderately bright sections, fades in and slowly zooms in. At the same time, "Crystal Pyramid Productions", in a stacked format and a vintage-style serif font, type in letter by letter.

Technique: Flash animation.

Audio: A short and elegant, rhythmic string sting.

Availability: It was only seen on CPP Speakers Examples - 2023.

4th Logo (February 10, 2023-)

Visuals: The logo follows the same animation and structure as before but with a blue, four-shaded prism in place of the triangle.

Technique: Flash animation.

Audio: A soft and upbeat, high note EDM fanfare ending with a low bass note.

Availability: The logo first appeared on their 2023 demo reel.
