Blue-Tongue Films

Background

Blue-Tongue Films is an Australian film company founded in 1996, though they didn't use a logo until 2008. They're not to be confused with Blue Tongue Entertainment, though oddly both companies are based in Australia.

1st Logo (July 31, 2008-)

Visuals: On a black background there's a rectangle on the middle of the screen with a clip of what appears to be a first person view of a old car's tire's rim. There is a 1970's style car (which appears to be a Chevrolet Malibu) behind the car. The cars seems to be going fast. The car goes left and it causes the car to flip, eventually stopping the tire. We get more close up to the tire's tread and the words "BLUE-TONGUE FILMS" in a rectangle are printed on it. The whole clip has an stocking effect.

Technique: Live-action.

Audio: The two cars' engine revving. And when the car turns, the car tires' screech and followed by a sound that sounds similar when you drop a camera. A brief siren-like sound can be heard while the car is flipping. On Gringo, the opening theme of the film is heard.

Availability: Found on the 2008 film The Square and other films from the company.

2nd Logo (September 25, 2018-)

Visuals: Over a blue smoky background, a bolt of lightning strikes the bottom of the screen and disappears. A blue ring expands off the screen and the text "BLUE-TONGUE FILMS" in an outline and italicised appears after the ring expands away. The back side of the text stretches backward and flashes over the blue smoke as a metallic version of the text zooms in and overtakes the outline as the camera pans around it. When the camera stops moving, a lens flare moves and shines across the text. Everything is in an old VHS-style filter.

Variant: A short version is seen on later episodes of Mr. Inbetween.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A loud thunderclap and electric sparking noise, a laser zap and synth drone combined, and a thumping synth chime.

Availability: Seen on Mr. Inbetween.
