(1989-1991)

Logo: A black VHS tape comes in from the bottom right against a grey-black gradient background. The tape has brown film and a white header. The sticker-label has the name "WHSMITH" in a white Times New Roman font with a grey bar underneath. The tape floats around and spins a full 360 degrees before turning so the header faces us. The header opens up to reveal a red rectangle with "WHSMITH" on it. The rectangle flips upwards to the middle of the screen while the background fades to a red background which has black gradient borders. The VHS tape also fades out when the background changes. After a few seconds, the logo fades to black.

Closing Variant: The closing variant is the same, but a copyright notice fades in after the logo forms.

FX/SFX: The VHS tape rotating and floating, the header opening, the rectangle zooming in, the background changing. Nice animation for the time but...

Music/Sounds: A beeping three note techno piece with synth echos which play throughout the logo. There is also a sound effect for when the tape's header opens up. The music trails into the title card on Postman Pat and Friends and Rupert and Friends.

Availability: Ultra Rare. So far it has only been spotted on a Rupert and Friends compilation tape. Unknown if it appeared on anything else.
