Background

Video Rondo was founded in 1988 by Marek Rondo, and his wife, Ewe Rondo. They have been infamous for being the first pirate VHS distributor in Poland, and for being fraudsters. They frequently released movies from the catalogs of Cinetel Films, Skouras Pictures, Harmony Gold, Fries Entertainment, Moviestore Entertainment, Crown International, Filmstar Inc., Troma and INI Entertainment, among other outfits. Their business collapsed in 1994 when Poland changed their copyright laws.

1st Logo (1988?-1992)

Visuals: The warning shows, then their logo appears with their address (which leads to their own video rental), and their phone number. Then it cuts to a message, which means that they will advertise their products after the film is over, and then it cuts to their company name, with text at the bottom that says, "zaprasza na film".

Variants:

  • There is a variant in 1990 where if it cuts to their logo, the picture of their logo at some point changes into the year they distributed.
  • There's also a variant on one of their early copies where they added transitions to their logo, and another where after the advert reminder, it transits into the last picture (which is the one that says "zaprasza na film").
  • There is also a variant where they left their watermark in the bottom right corner.

Technique: Cutting effects.

Audio: None.

Audio Variants:

  • They would sometimes have leftover BGM playing, and it would fade out after the last picture shows.
  • There is also a voice-over variant.

Availability: Spotted on Polish B-movies of the time and VHS releases from this company.

Underneath the rectangle is "GDYNIA UL-POMORSKA 38" and the red ribbon with the words in white inside "tel-20-98-87". There is the box revealing the circle with sort of a curve triangle without a bottom part a few times (It resembles the logo of Dutch outfit RCV). The screen cuts to the words "PO ZAKONCZENIU PROJEKCJI FILMU" with the blue rectangle with the word inside "NOWOSCI" and the red rectangle "REKLAMA". The box transition us to the blue background with the gray letter "f" with the same "V I D E O RONDO" logo from before inside with the yellow script "zaprasza na film". The screen cuts to black.
