Background

Turner Multimedia was the educational arm of Turner Entertainment.

Logo (Late 1980s-Early 1990s)

Visuals: On a gray, paneled surface, we see 5 3D rectangles, sloping down in the manner of a bar graph. The rectangles then rotate to reveal 15 additional blocks, sloping down to the top-left. The blocks then flatten out and zoom out as grid lines slide in and an unseen brush writes the letters "tm" as the blocks zoom out. After this, the words "TURNER MULTIMEDIA" fade in to the right of the logo. The logo fades out and a standard spiel follows.

Technique: CGI. As with much of the graphics used by Turner in the 1980s, it appears to have been created by John Christopher Burns and/or Television by Design.

Audio: A dreamy synth cue.

Audio Trivia: The music used in this logo is the same music used in the 1989 and 1990 Granada and 1985 IBA logos.

Availability: Seen on CNN Special Report: Not in My Backyard, and may be seen on other tapes.
