Background

The Wiggles Pty Ltd. is the holding company established by the founders of the Australian kids' band, The Wiggles. The band did not have an on-screen logo until 1997.

1st Logo (July 1, 1997-October 23, 1998)

Logo: Against a blue background with swirls, a purple sky, red clouds, and yellow ground, we see a girl wearing yellow-and-blue overalls and a red-and-purple shirt with the letter W on it. She stands in front of a canvas picking up some paint off of an easel with her paintbrush, touching the canvas with her it, as The Wiggles logo appears via a blur effect. The girl disappears and the logo shines on the purple background.

Trivia: The girl in the logo is Emma Ryan, who was one of the kids who would appear alongside The Wiggles during music videos and some segments throughout the 1990s.

Variant: On Let's Wiggle, 'Let's Wiggle' replaces 'The Wiggles', the logo itself is glossier, and the background is a purple gradient. Also, a copyright notice appears on the bottom right.

Technique: Chroma-key and CGI.

Music/Sounds: A calm, whimsical music box tune. Sometimes, it's low-pitched.

Music/Sounds Variant: On "Spooked Wiggles" and "Funny Greg", The Chase credits song overlaps the logo for a few seconds making the music box tune and the logo out of sync. It's unknown if this was an error or not.

Availability: Series 1 of The Wiggles no longer airs in Australia, nor has it aired in the United States since the mid 2000s, when it aired on Playhouse Disney (now Disney Junior). Series 1 may have aired for a period on Sprout (now Universal Kids). As of 2015, this logo can no longer be seen on TV, although VHS recordings of The Wiggles (Series 1), the HiT Extras special feature and the Series 1 boxset may have this logo intact on them.

2nd Logo (January 2, 1999-October 22, 2001)

Logo: On a black background, we see a CGI bee pollenating an orange flower with yellow nectar. Then it sparkles and shines in gold to reveal The Wiggles logo and the text stretches before it goes to its original position and the bee flies away. A copyright notice appears below as it reads "Copyright © [YEAR] The Wiggles Touring Pty Limited".

Trivia: The CGI bee seen in this logo was also used in a transition in The Wiggles TV Series 2 and the 1999 version of Toot Toot!.

Variants:

  • On a Playhouse Disney (now Disney Junior) airing of The Wiggles TV Series 2, the opening sequence is used. Also, the text is skinnier.
  • On a GMTV airing of The Wiggles TV Series 2, the text “Produced for GMTV” is above the copyright notice.
  • On the 1999 version of Wiggly, Wiggly, Christmas, the copyright notice is extended to read "The Wiggles, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword are registered trademarks of The Wiggles Touring Pty Limited. © 1999".
  • On Yule Be Wiggling, the logo freezes for 12 seconds.
  • There is a variant without a copyright notice below the logo. This can be seen on a Sprout (now Universal Kids) airing of The Wiggles (TV Series 2) and the 2nd version of The Dorothy the Dinosaur and Friends Video.

Technique: CGI by Plastic Wax.

Music/Sounds: The closing theme of The Wiggles with the bee buzzing and chimes ringing.

Music/Sounds Trivia: The buzzing for the bee in The Wiggles logo is identical to the music bug's buzz during the "Dorothy and the Music Bug" scene in The Wiggles TV Series 2 episode "Musical Instruments". This sound is called "Sound Ideas, FLY - SINGLE FLY BUZZING AROUND, ANIMAL, INSECT 03", which can be found in the Hanna-Barbera Sound Effects Library.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • On Yule Be Wiggling and the 1999 version of Wiggly, Wiggly Christmas, the closing theme plays over it.
  • On Hoop-Dee-Doo! It's a Wiggly Party, there is no closing music.
  • On the international version of Wake Up Jeff!, the logo is silent.

Availability:

  • Can be seen on The Wiggles TV Series 2 episodes, The Dorothy the Dinosaur and Friends Video (Version 2), the International version of Wake Up Jeff!, the 1999 versions of Toot Toot! and Wiggly, Wiggly, Christmas, The Wiggly Big Show, Big Red Car (the UK version of Toot Toot!), Captain Feathersword the Friendly Pirate, It’s a Wiggly, Wiggly, World!, Hoop-Dee-Doo!
