Background

The Eternal Film (H.K.) Co. (恒生電影(香港)公司) was a Hong Kong film production and distribution company, specializing in martial arts films. It was one of the active studios in the 70s.

1st Logo (1973-1975)

Logo: On a black background we see a golden E merged with an O-like object (a fusion of the Latin letter "E" [as in "Eternal"] and the Chinese character "恒" [the first character of the company name in Chinese]). The logo zooms out, revealing text "THE ETERNAL FILM (H.K.) CO." and the Chinese translation, side by side with the logo.

Technique: Motion-controlled animation.

Music/Sounds: A bombastic fanfare.

Availability: Very rare.

2nd Logo (1975-1978)

Logo: On a blue background, we see a two-dimensional version of the E-O from the previous logo in gold draw. The red text and Chinese translation, similar to the previous logo, wipes in left and right.

Technique: Motion-controlled animation.

Music/Sounds: Same as the previous logo.

Availability: Same as before.

3rd Logo (1977-1986)

Logo: Outlined and variously colored copies of the Eternal print logo zoom out on a black background to connect to each other. Then, the logo flashes, causing it to turn yellow. The red Chinese text wipes in from the right, and the English translation (similar to the previous logo) in an opposite direction.

Technique: A mix of camera-controlled and cel animation.

Music/Sounds: Two horn fanfares, namely "Fanfares #3" followed "Fanfares #2", both composed by Mark Winter from the Valentino Music Library.

Availability: See the previous logos.
