Background

TeamWork Motion Pictures Limited (originally TeamWork Production House Limited) was a film production company founded in 1992 by Andy Lau. The company was produced many works like Saviour of the Soul and Made in Hong Kong, among others. The company was renamed to its current name, Focus Films Limited, in 2003.

1st Logo (1992-2000?)

NOTE: The 2nd video starts at 0:07.

Logo: On a dodger blue cloudy background, we see a teal marble stairway (ala the opening of Festival de Cannes), which turns and ascends at the camera. Once the camera gets to the top, a stylized "T", a vertical stripe with two stacked horizontal lines on either side, rises up from the top step and faces the camera. While that happens, we see "TEAM" and "WORK" with "PRODUCTION HOUSE LIMITED" in a Century Schoolbook font with "T", "W", "P", "H" and "L" larger than the rest of the text, fades in. Then, the Cantonese translation, which is in pink, fades in below the logo when everything faces the screen. The shining on the "T" stops as the logo stays for a couple seconds before fading out.

Variants:

  • There is a variant where the camera then rotates at first before fixing itself and the logo plays as normal.
  • A deteriorated version has been spotted on the Thai dub of Saviour of the Soul I.

Technique: 90s CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: A 12-note Moog synth sound effect, then a synth tune fanfare, ending with a "Thud!" when the logo turns. The 2nd theme used an 18-note arpeggio sounder, which then segues a slow 2-note in the theme.

Availability: Seen on some TeamWork Production House films, like Saviour of the Soul I and II, Tian Di, The Moon Warriors and Game Kids (also known as Game Boy Kids). The other variant is rare and it was found on the Nontanund print of Saviour of the Soul I and Never Ending Summer, which can be viewed either on Facebook or Tencent Video.

2nd Logo (2000?-2003)

Logo: We see blocks moving on a space background from an aerial view, which we see an orange block driving on the space. The block then "connects" twice, then more blocks connect twice on the screen, revealing the black background and then form "teamWork" in a 2-bit game font, which then flashes and dies. The logo then zooms and then "blurs" twice, which then zooms out to reveal the logo. "MOTION PICTURES LIMITED" appears via moving letters.

Technique: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: A wind chimes and a choir is heard on the silence, then a whoosh, or drums is heard when forming the logo, and a loud "whooshes" is heard before the blur effect, and then a wind music is heard again on the logo.

Availability: Uncommon; as well as used for a while. Seen on some films from 2000 to 2003 before the company went renamed, such as Give Them a Chance.
