Background

Shout! Studios (formerly Shout! Factory) is an American home video, music and film distribution company founded in 2003. Its video releases include previously released feature films, classic and contemporary television series, animation, live music, and comedy specials. The company also owns and operates Timeless Media Group, Biograph Records, Majordomo Records and Video Time Machine. In July 2023, Shout! Factory announced that they would begin the process of rebranding under the Shout! Studios name completely, which was previously used for their film distribution arm only.

1st Logo (2003-2014)

Visuals: There is a jittery TV screen with bluish static and a film countdown leaderboard on it. The Shout! Factory logo (consisting of five unevenly-arranged rectangles alternating between red and black colors in a pattern with an exclamation point at the end, with "SHOUT" displayed on each rectangle letter-by-letter and "FACTORY" shown below it in between two horizontal lines) comes into focus, flashing a bit. As the leaderboard finishes, the static remains and then fades away after a couple of seconds. The logo tilts a bit before fading out.

Variants:

• Some feature film releases feature the logo in widescreen (actually non-anamorphic widescreen, as it's rather cheaply horizontally stretched).
• Sometime in 2013, the logo was recreated in higher quality. The countdown section is now completely redone, now being a movie countdown played with green-tinted static. The logo also has no jittering and much lower blurring counts. The logo also now zooms in piece-by-piece before the countdown ends, and slowly zooms in before the logo ends. It also tilts at a much sharper angle as well.
• On the first trailer for Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers, the logo transitions from a large flash of lightning in the Marvel Knights Animation logo. It is CGI and floating on a stormy sky backdrop, with "ghostly" effects. From the top right corner of the screen, lightning zaps the bottom twice.

Technique: 2D digital animation, with live action for the static.

Audio: A film projector sound plays throughout, while the whirring of it starting can be heard (similar to that of the 1st VID logo, but has long cut times). Eventually, the film projector turns into static, with a few tidbits of electric crackling.

Audio Variant: A higher-pitched variant of the logo music also exists.

Availability: Seen on DVD releases released from the company, mostly classic TV shows and films.

• Such titles include The Transformers, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Hey Arnold!, SCTV Volumes 1-4, and Rocko's Modern Life, among many others.
• It is also preserved on Blu-ray releases, but it's in DVD quality.
• This logo also does not appear on the 2012 DVD release of The Smurfs and the Magic Flute, despite appearing on the cover art of the DVD.

2nd Logo (2014-2023)

Visuals: On a white background, two bars with the word "FACTORY" slides in. As it settles, three red bars and two black bars, all unevenly arranged, rise up from the bar and "SHOUT" appears on the bars one-by-one. An exclamation point flies in and sticks to the last bar. All this happens at a very fast pace.

Technique: 2D digital animation.

Audio: A distant explosion sound followed by a series of short swooshes.

Availability: Seen on newer Shout! Factory releases until mid-2023, such as The Battery, My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Rainbow Rocks, The Transformers: The Movie, FernGully: The Last Rainforest, and Thomas and the Magic Railroad, among many others.

• It was also seen on the first season of the 2017 revival of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
• This logo also does not appear on GKIDS titles, despite it being on the cover art of their releases.

1st Logo (January 12, 2018-)

Visuals: Over a white or black background is the black or white text "SHOUT STUDIOS". "SHOUT" has a large red exclamation point by it, which provides the "O" in "STUDIOS" with its dot. The logo slightly zooms in before fading out.

Variant: On the teaser trailer for Head Count, the logo is colored in a green gradient. The same color variant is superimposed over the opening scene of the official trailer.

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: None or the opening/closing theme.

Availability: It debuted on Humor Me, and has since appeared on other productions by the label, such as on season 12 of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (season 2 of the Netflix revival, subtitled The Gauntlet), Itsy Bitsy and Assault on Hill 400.

• It is also preserved on home media releases from mid-2023 until very early 2024, such as the Shout Select Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Natural Born Killers: Director's Cut, and the DVD, Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

2nd Logo (May 15, 2020)

Visuals: In darkness, a blue light shines, revealing the "SHOUT! STUDIOS" text. The exclamation point glows especially bright. Everything then fades back into the darkness, with the brightly glowing exclamation point disappearing last.

Technique: CGI by R79 Digital.

Audio: The opening sounds of the movie.

Availability: A custom variant used on the movie Proximity. It can also be found on R79 Digital's Vimeo account.

3rd Logo (January 9, 2024-)

Visuals: On a black background, red rings to the right of the screen ripple like water. They ripple faster and more intensely until the "SHOUT! STUDIOS" text appears over them in the shadows. The circular center of the ripples glows red, shining light onto the text and becoming the dot of the "!". The ripples disappear, and the logo zooms out slightly before fading out.

Trivia: The press release for the full rename to Shout! Studios mentioned the debut of the "new motion logo" months before its official debut, indicating that it must have been shown to shareholders first.

Variant: A short version with just the zooming at the end exists.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A mysterious techno beat or none.

Availability: It debuted on current streaming prints of Anything Else, and has since been used as a de-facto home video/streaming logo by the company, starting with the Blu-ray release of Telefon, released on January 9, 2024. It also appears on current Ultra HD Blu-ray releases since early 2024, such as Darkman and Quigley Down Under. It also appears on Donal MacIntyre's Killer Evidence on Shout! TV, as well as Pluto TV prints of The Dark Crystal (1982) and Labyrinth (1986).
