Background

Selena Studios was an edutainment game developer based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Not much is known about the company and its games, aside from the fact that Maxis distributed their games (notably Read-A-Rama) though they were only shortly featured in any of their software catalogs.

Logo (November 30, 1995)

Visuals: On a space background, a magenta wavy line zooms away from the screen very slowly. Then, the wavy line rotates and zooms out, revealing that it's a magenta circle with the silhouette of a face inside of it besides a curvy line. The circle slowly zooms away from the screen, revealing the text

SELENA
STUDIOS

located below the circle. A light shines between the words and the logo stays still for the remainder of the time.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A soft MIDI theme at the beginning, which then brightens up when the logo zooms out.

Availability: Not much is known about the company and its games, but it's known to appear on Read-A-Rama and Spell-A-Rama, and possibly in any of their other games if there are any. Both games are long out of print and very hard to come by, so check eBay if you can.

Legacy: At 2 minutes and 24 seconds, this is the longest-ever video game logo, and one of the longest-ever logos in general.
