Background

Radius-TWC was the first boutique label of The Weinstein Company and the first studio division dedicated to both multi-platform VOD and theatrical distribution. They have also been known as "Radius" after 2015. Following the Harvey Weinstein scandal, the "TWC" part of the name was dropped from their logo officially, and "Radius" became the official name. It went dormant in 2018 after the formation of Lantern Entertainment, the new owner of The Weinstein Company's assets.

1st Logo (2012-2013)

Visuals: On a black background with a blue spotlight, there is the word "RADiUS" in a futuristic font on a white box and the word "TWC" in a thin sans-serif font on a black box.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on early films by Radius-TWC, including Piranha (3)DD.

2nd Logo (July 5, 2013-October 28, 2017)

Visuals: On a shaded white background, a white hollow sphere appears and turns, revealing two red arc-like objects rotating around a dark gray inner sphere. After that, another white hollow sphere engulfs the other objects, then it disappears into the background, revealing the text "RADiUSTWC" in black, with "RADiUS" in a futuristic font and "TWC" in a thin sans serif font. A red arc draws itself on the "D", completing the logo.

Variants:

  • On Amityville: The Awakening (the final film released by the label before it went dormant), the logo freezes when the hollow white sphere appears and the "RADiUS" text (without "TWC") fades on the sphere (where the "D" arc's animation occurs).
  • The later variant also has a closing version, which consists of the "RADiUS" text, now in white, fading in on a black background.
  • Trailers use the same format as closing version, except here the "D" arc is drawn.

Technique: CGI done in-house with Maxon Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects.

Audio: An ethereal drone sounder that suddenly stops when the text is revealed, along with swooshes for the turning 3D objects.
