Background

PlatinumGames is a Japanese game developer which was formed by the merger of ODD Corporation and SEEDS Inc. (which was formed by Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya, who were all prominent members of Capcom's Clover Studio, which closed in 2006, and helped create and direct series like Resident Evil and Devil May Cry) in 2007. The studio is best known for its original properties like MadWorld, Bayonetta, Vanquish, The Wonderful 101 and NieR: Automata, along with several licensed games from the Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Legend Of Korra series.

Nicknames: "P-Star", "PlatinumGames P-Star"

Logo: On a white background, we see various moving silhouettes of different parts of the PlatinumGames logo (a "P" with a sideways cross on top of it) with multicolored pieces, including balls and smaller "P+" logos, flowing inside of the logo. Some of the silhouettes include a "P" inside a flipped "P" and a sideways cross with a "P" on top of it. Eventually, the silhouettes settle down, and the sideways cross moves and turns a black/silver gradient color. As this happens, the same color fades into the P. The company name does not appear.

Trivia: According to their website, the studio's name was chosen due to represent their goals of exceeding fan expectations and creating games of the highest quality possible, platinum being a metal of high quality and everlasting lustre. The ''P+'' symbol is based off the atomic symbol for platinum, ''Pt'', and the studio's values of performance, possibility, pride and trust. The star shape is a representation of Polaris, better known as the North Star, famous for guiding explorers venturing into new territories throughout history.

FX/SFX: The silhouettes moving, the multi-colored pieces inside the silhouettes, the fading and cross moving, 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: A futuristic synth theme. On the website, this logo is silent.

Availability: Common; seen on all PlatinumGames releases so far, starting with MadWorld.
