Background

Pathegrams was a subsidiary of Pathé, which was founded somewhere in the early 1920s. They produced newsreels, short films, and educational videos, the educational videos being in the name of "Pathé Science Series". Pathegrams eventually shut down in the late 1930s.

1st Logo (1920's-1930's)

Nickname: "The Rooster"

Logo: In a black background, we see a rooster looking up. In the middle, we see "The End" in a script font. Underneath, it says "Pathegrams".

Variant: This logo has been spotted in a sepia tone.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Extinct.

  • It can be found on old newsreels from the 1920s.
  • This can also be found in Children All Lands.
  • The sepia tone variant has been found in a Pathé Science series short called Structure Of The Earth: Volcanoes.

2nd Logo (1920's-1932?)

Nicknames: "The Rooster II", "The Sunburst"

Logo: In a black background, we see a ring with a sunburst behind it. Inside the ring is a rooster. Around the logo, we see "THE END" on top and "PATHEGRAMS" on the bottom. Both are in a curvy font.

Variant: The logo has been spotted in a sepia tone.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Extinct.

  • It can be found on old newsreels from the 1920s.
  • This was used in tandem with the previous logo.
  • The sepia tone was spotted in Shore Lines And Shore Development, a part of the Pathé Science Series.

3rd Logo (1932?-1938?)

Nicknames: "The Rooster III", "Sunrise"

Logo: In a background where there is a sunburst, we see a rooster in the middle and trees on the sides of the screen. "PATHEGRAMS" in a curvy font can be seen on the top, while in the bottom, we see "presents".

Variants:

  • A variant with "NEWS DIGEST" on the bottom exists.
  • A sepia tone variant exists.
  • A closing variant exists, wherein a black background, we see "The" in a cursive font, and "E N D". In the bottom left, we see a rooster, and "Pathegrams".
  • Another closing variant exists, wherein on a black background, we see a rooster. In front of the rooster, we see "THE END".
  • Yet another closing variant exists where we see a rooster sneezing. We also see "PATHEGRAMS" on the bottom. The text "THE END" fades in one letter at a time.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: The beginning of the newsreel/short film.

Availability: Ultra rare.

  • The regular variant can be found at the beginning of old newsreels and films from the 1930s.
  • The variant with "NEWS DIGEST" can be found on the first news digest.
  • The sepia tone variant can be found on Spills And Thrills.
  • The closing variant is hard to find, but it can be found on A Day At Home.
  • The second and third closing variants can be found on news digests.
