1st Warning (November 20, 1991-2008)

Visuals: Same as the 3rd MGM/UA Home Video warning screen.

Variant: A digitally recreated version of this warning exists on DVDs.

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on New Line Home Video tapes from 1991-1998. Also seen on early New Line Home Video DVDs as well.

2nd Warning (November 20, 1991-March 4, 1992)

Visuals: Same as the RCA/Columbia Home Video warning screen at the time.

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on the 1991 demo VHS of Shadow of China (the standard VHS has the previous warning) and the 1992 VHS of Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, which were co-released by RCA/Columbia Pictures Home Video and Columbia TriStar Home Video respectively.

3rd Warning (March 24, 1998-2008)

Visuals: Kind of an updated version of the 1st warning. The shadow effects are white, "WARNING" is a bit skinnier and the text is bolder. Also, the lining of the text is very different as well.

Variants:

  • On many DVD releases, a digitally recreated version exists where all of the text is wider and in a different font.
  • A different DVD variant exists on some DVDs manufactured by either Cinram or Warner Advanced Media Operations, starting in 1999. The "WARNING" text is smaller. has a grey shadow, and the text is in a different font with different formatting.
  • A custom-made version was seen on The Golden Compass.

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on New Line Home Video/Entertainment releases until 2008.

Final Note

After 2008, New Line Home Entertainment began using the warnings from Warner Home Video.
