1st bumper (1995-2005)

Bumper: On a black background, we see the following text in the Optima font: "This film has been modified from its original version. It has been formatted to fit your TV."

Variants:

  • Old TV prints of MGM films often feature this, with the text being expanded to "formatted to fit your TV, and edited for content (and to run in the time allotted)."
  • On a syndicated print of Fargo, as seen on WDCA UPN 20 in 2001, the text is in a different font.

FX/SFX: The fade-in and fade-out.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on MGM's videocassette releases and pan-and-scan DVDs as well as on some old syndicated prints of MGM films. The "edited for content (and to run in the time allotted)" version can also be (weirdly) seen on a 1999 reprint VHS of The Cutting Edge.

2nd bumper (Late 1990s)

Bumper: On a black background we see the following text in the same font as the Sony and Starz (Trifecta) modified screens: "The following film has been modified from its original version. It has been..."

  • "formatted to fit your screen."
  • "formatted to fit your screen and edited for content."
  • "formatted to fit your screen, to run in the time allotted, and edited for content."
  • "formatted to fit your screen and edited to run in the time allotted and for content."
  • "edited for content."
  • "formatted to fit your TV."

Variant: The font of the text may sometimes vary.

FX/SFX: The fade-in and fade-out.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Fairly common nowadays, like on some Trifecta-owned Starz movies, a few Paramount titles (e.g. USA's print of Mission: Impossible), and Sony movies. More common on older television prints of MGM movies, which are often popping-up on ThisTV (and others) from time to time. The alternate font version appears on the DVDs of Leaving Las Vegas and the 2003 reissue of Escape from New York.

Bumper: On a black background we see the following text in Arial font: "The following film has been modified from its original version. It has been..."

  • "...formatted to fit this screen and edited for content."
  • "...formatted to fit this screen and made to run in the time allotted."
  • "...formatted to fit this screen, to run in the time allotted and edited for content."
  • "This film has been edited to run in the time allotted."
  • "This film has been edited for content and made to fit in the time allotted."

Variant: On some films like the 2013 syndicated print of I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, the screen runs twice as long.

FX/SFX: The fade-in and fade-out.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Common on old syndicated and network television prints of MGM movies.

4th Bumper (2000-)
