Revision as of 09:10, 10 March 2023

Background

This is the production company of filmmaking duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

1st Logo (November 2, 2002-2005)

Logo: On a greenish background, there is a ribbon with the words "LORD MILLER", and below it there is a drawing of a coat-of-arms lion with some lines. There's also two circles, which feature Christopher and Phil themselves, as they turn their heads, we see that they have false mustaches on their mouths. Below the two photos are ribbons with the words "FINE" and "MOUSTACHES".

Variant: Sometimes, the logo is still.

Technique: Live-action.

Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the show or three off-key tuba notes (sounding much like farts).

Availability: Seen on Clone High and the failed pilot of Awesometown.

2nd Logo (March 1, 2015-)

Logo: On a green flag that waves, there is a shield (similar to the coat of arms from the previous logo) divided in three parts, two squares and a rectangle. The first square features a red and gold square pattern, the second one, a double-head gold dolphin, and the rectangle, a gold mustache. Below it is "Lord Miller" in a script font.

Trivia: There is a hidden message in The Afterparty variant: If the colored lines are converted to binary, where white is 0 and red is 1, and then decoded using A1Z26, you get "HOT DAMN YOU CRACKED THE CODE".

Variants:

  • A still version exists, sometimes on a black background.
  • At the end of The Lego Batman Movie, The Lego Ninjago Movie, and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, the logo shares the screen with the Lin Pictures (later Rideback) and Vertigo Entertainment logos.
  • On Brigsby Bear, the text is replaced by "LM".
  • On Bless the Harts, the logo was given an enhanced look, with the flag being 2D animated and less wavy and the shield itself was modified with the first square replaced by the Cool S.
  • On The Afterparty, the logo is slightly enhanced with colored lines at the top and bottom.
  • On Cocaine Bear, we pan down to reveal the shield as it zooms to its familiar position, which is colored blue and pink and sports a 80s style. Like Brigsby Bear, the "LM" variant is used.

Technique: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: 6 toy car horns.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • In some cases, the logo is silent, or has the opening theme of the film.
  • On early episodes of The Last Man on Earth, dolphin noises can be heard.
  • On Bless the Harts, the last two sounds are sped up.
  • On The Afterparty, different dolphin noises are heard after the regular fanfare.
  • On Cocaine Bear, "Jane" by Jefferson Starship is heard.

Availability: Current.

  • Seen on The Last Man on Earth, the pilot episode of Son of Zorn, Making History, Brigsby Bear, Bless the Harts, Hoops, The Afterparty, and Cocaine Bear.
  • Also seen at the end of Lego-related films from The Lego Batman Movie to The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, as well as America: The Motion Picture.
  • This doesn't appear on certain projects that have Phil Lord and/or Christopher Miller's involvement such as the films Solo: A Star Wars Story (due to Lord and Miller being fired by Lucasfilm following creative differences), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and The Mitchells vs. the Machines or the TV shows Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs: The Series and Unikitty!.

3rd Logo (September 25, 2016-February 19, 2017)

Logo: On a black background is the same shield from before, now with purple colors. It zooms out while quickly turning around as the text in the same font as before is written by a laser.

Variant: Starting with episode 9, the animation is slowed down.

Technique: CGI animation. This was done by Titmouse.

Music/Sounds: Same as before, but synthesized, and with two laser sounds at the end.

Availability: Seen on episodes 2-13 of Son of Zorn; this was used in tandem with the previous logo.
