Background

Kyowa Film (共和教育映画社) was a Japanese film company located in Osaka, found in September 1, 1957 by Toru Yatouji, which originally specialized in educational films.

Logo (1980s-1990s)

Visuals:

  • 1980s: On a cerulean blue background, an animated rainbow circle with a white wireframe globe outline in front of it fades in whilst white rays burst out of it. After a few seconds, the circle turns red as the words "KYOWA FILM" fades in, whilst the rays fade out. Then, the Japanese text "共和教育映画社" wipes in underneath.
  • 1990s: Same as described above, with the only differences being that the words are slightly more bold, and the Japanese text is in yellow with a drop shadow, also slightly bold, fading in.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: A soothing, dreamy xylophone tune.

Availability: Seen on their educational film output such as Arigatō hana (ありがとうハーナ ) and Haku-chan kōshinkyoku (ハクちゃん行進曲).
