Background

Korean Central Television (often abbreviated KCTV) is North Korea's primary state-owned television network. They are the only official news broadcaster in North Korea.

1st ID (2005?-2015)

ID:

  • Today's Schedule ident: On a blue-pink gradient background with a trail of various squares, we see a set of radio telescopes on the bottom right. After a little while, the Korean Central Television logo (a stylized "조선" forming the torch of the Juche Tower) flips and zooms out to the top middle of the screen. Then, the text "오늘의 방송 순서" ("Today's Schedule") zoom in from beside the larger antenna to the center of the screen with a trail effect.
  • Tomorrow's Schedule ident: Similar to before, this time being on a black-blue gradient space background, the KCTV logo zooming out much slower, and the text saying "래일의 순서" ("Tomorrow's Schedule") zooming in from the center of the screen.

Variant: In a rare occasion, the first half of the Tomorrow's Schedule ident was used as a "regular" ident.

FX/SFX: Basic (and dated) 3D animation.

Music/Sounds: The Today's Schedule ident has a dreamy synth tune with a female announcer saying in Korean "We'll let you know what you see tomorrow in the broadcast schedule". The Tomorrow's Schedule ident has another dreamy theme with the announcer saying "여러분이 내일 보시기를 방송 순서를 처리해서 알려드리겠습니다" ("We'll let you know what you see tomorrow in the broadcast schedule"). The variant has dreamy descending chimes tune.

Availability: They were seen on the programming schedules within the sign-ons and sign-offs. For the most part, this can only be seen in North Korea. Outside of the country, you may see on the network's RTSP broadcasting server.

2nd ID (2015-2017)

ID:

  • Today's Schedule ident: On a landscape background of Pyongyang's coat, the KCTV logo zooms out below the buildings and fades out. Then, logos of various KCTV programs appear turning clockwise. After they fade out, the text "오늘의 방송 순서", in gold, flies clockwise below the buildings.
  • Tomorrow's Schedule ident: On a footage of the atom-shaped Pyongyang Sci-Tech Complex over a stock colorful shining background, the KCTV zooms out rotating to the top middle of the screen. Then, it "flashes" and the characters of the text "래일의 순서" in gold fly to the bottom middle of the screen.

  • Tomorrow's Schedule ident: On a nighttime landscape of Pyongyang in top half of the screen with a stock black background with greenish blue spirals in the bottom half of the screen, a flash occurs with the KCTV logo zooming out to the middle of the screen and slowly rotating 360° counterclockwise. Then, a light appears behind the logo and the characters of the text "래일의 순서" in gold fly under the logo on-by-one.
