Background

Ion Storm was a game developer formed under the wing of a six-game publishing contract with Eidos Interactive in November 1996. The first office was based in Dallas, Texas and led by industry veterans John Romero and Tom Hall (founders of id Software). Their progress was notorious for major release delays and extensive money shedding, which led to all three of their games being unsuccessful on release, and the division's closure by Eidos in July 2001. The second office, opened in Austin, Texas in late 1997, was led by former Looking Glass manager Warren Spector and produced the much more successful game Deus Ex. This division survived until February 2005, when it too was closed after the studio completed its six-game contract with Eidos and Spector left to pursue personal interests.

Logo: A big sphere zooms to the screen, partially covered with metal, with several holes seen on it. Green matter begins to beam from the holes, until the whole sphere is covered in light, then it blows, leaving the green spherical Ion Storm logo. It then fades to a rougher print version, with smudges around the sphere.

Variant: On Anachronox, the logo just bumps off the screen.

Technique: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: Beaming and steaming sounds.

Availability: Appeared on Dominion: Storm Over Gift 3, Daikatana, Deus Ex and Anachronox.
