Background

Hong Hwa International Films (宏華國際影片(香港)有限公司) was a Taiwanese film studio founded by Taiwanese director Joseph Kuo Nam Hung. While registered in Hong Kong, Hong Hwa mainly operated in Taiwan. From 1970 to 1983, the studio released mostly Kung Fu and Wu Xia films.

1st Logo (May 8, 1970-1975)

Visuals: On a marble background, there is a golden square with HH (like two H's holding each other) with white Chinese text below the square HH and above the text "HONG HWA MOTION PICTURE (H.K) CO. in orange-yellow.

Technique: This is a still graphic, with the text hand-drawn and the other elements being live-action.

Audio:

Availability: Can be only seen on the current home video releases of that period's films. [Examples?]

2nd Logo (1975-1979, 1982)


Visuals: On a cerulean background, two red "H"s fly in from left and right sides of the screen, merging into one in the middle, then a live-action rotating globe appears over it, along with the company name "HONG HWA INTERNATIONAL FILMS (H.K.) LTD."and traditional Chinese text. Seconds later, the screen fades to another screen, this time showing "HOHWA(where the H should be)SCOPE"and another set of Chinese text. The logo fades out in the end to the film.

Audio: An orchestral fanfare, followed by a big note into the end, either orchestrated or synthesized.

Then white Chinese text (similar to the China Films Co. logo characters) wipes in from the right by one by one and more chinese text fades in below the text. The english translations doesn't appear.

Audio: Same as before.

Visuals: On a dark background, a small angular double H shape ("HH") from before, but colored,is seen in the background, and zoomed in forward. As it stops, 3 flashes on the top corners, from center, right, to left, are initiated. The white text "HONG HWA INTERNATIONAL FILMS (H.K.) LTD." appears by a horizontal swipe starting from the left towards the right, and then a rendition of the company's name in red Chinese characters appears in another swipe, done character by character, and starting from the right this time.

Visuals: On a black background, there is the double-H logo from before in grayscale. Surrounding the double-H are three white arcs, and below the arcs is the text "Hong Hwa Films" in a script font. The company name in Chinese and English is below.
