Background

Havok is a middleware software suite developed by Irish software company Havok. The suite provides a physics engine component and related functions to video games. In 2008, Havok was honored at the 59th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards for advancing the development of physics engines in electronic entertainment.

Logo (2000?-)

Visuals: On a white background, there is a sheet covering something. The sheet is removed, revealing the word "havok" in black, with a circular saw blade replacing the "o", embedded into the ground. The logo becomes 3D and black particles can be seen near the blade.

Variants:

  • Starting in 2005, the logo is 2D, and the saw blade is not embedded, indicates that its full model is shown.
  • A still variant exists for both the 2000 and 2005 variants.
  • A copyright notice usually appears below.
  • Sometimes, the logo is entirely white.
  • The still logo sometimes shares the screen with other logos.
  • On MegaRace 3, a silver plate rotates into its position and reveals that it has the logo with "POWERED BY" above the logo. Also, the saw blade is not embedded, just like the later variant of the logo.
    • A similar variant is also used on Darkwatch, albeit still, shares the screen with other logos and "powered by" is in a different, lowercase font. The logo also appears to be using the early version.
  • On 50 Cent: Bulletproof, the logo is included alongside the logos for Sofdec and ADX.
  • On Sonic Generations, the logo is shown in yellow on a black background beneath the Dolby Digital logo.

Technique: CGI. A still, digital graphic for the still variants.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on video games that utilize the Havok physics engine (though most games don't use a logo at all).

  • The still version was seen on Ed, Edd n' Eddy: The Mis-Edventures, the black background version is seen on Sonic Generations and the Sofdec/ADX combo logo was seen on 50 Cent: Bulletproof.
  • The animated logo was seen on games published by Data Design Interactive, such as Hamster Heroes.
