Background

Great British Films was an independent film production company ran by David Rogers, operating alongside financing unit Enterprise Films. They, along with Spice Factory, shared similar headquarters in Brighton and co-produced the latter's earlier films, but by 2003 the company produced films without them. The company presumably went defunct in 2005, with Rogers now working as a consultant for Premiere Picture.

1st Logo (2001-2005?)

Visuals: The screen fades in to a vault floating above a marble floor illuminated by a spotlight. The crank on the vault turns until the door is unlocked and opens, revealing a spinning golden egg with the stacked text "GREAT BRITISH FILMS". The egg stops as we get close to it and the background turns black. The text flashes.

Variant(s):

Early on, the image was darker and all that was seen was the vault handle before it opened.
At the end of Out of Bounds, the end product is seen in a white box.
There also exists in-credit versions, initially featuring the end product in black and white, but was later updated to have the company name surrounded by a film-strip taking the shape of the egg.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: Sounds corresponding to the actions, along with a heart beating and a low synth note, ending with a clang.

Availability: Seen on early co-productions with Spice Factory such as Mr. In-Between, Out of Bounds, Anazapta (Black Plague), George and the Dragon and Undertaking Betty (Plots with a View), the in-credit variants appeared on Taking Sides and the end of George and the Dragon. Possibly appeared on Within.
