1st Logo (Late '80s-Early '90s)

Visuals: A black circle spins around on a white BG, then faces the viewer. A piece of the circle near the bottom is cropped off and flies away upward. Five horizontal lines are drawn through the circle, then the word "FESTIVAL" appears one by one on the circle in a jumbled manner. "VIDEO", in red, slides in from the right on the lines. Seconds later, when the last chime note reaches its closing pitch, the whole logo turns into dust.

Technique: 2D CGI done on a Quantel Mirage.

Audio: A drum beat with several rising "chimes" that play to the appearance of the lines and letters, with the last one reverberating and ascending to a really high pitch.

Availability: Seen on some Australian releases of music videos like Clowning Around, and early ABC Video releases (although some have the 2nd logo).

2nd Logo (1985-1987?)

Visuals: On a rough textured white background is a square, kind of like a CD case and a circle over lapping it, and on the square it says "FESTIVAL VIDEO". At the end, the logo turns (via page turn effect) and cuts to the ABC Video logo.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Can be found on some ABC videos like early VHS tapes of Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. It was used in tandem with the previous logo.
