Background

Editora Luz e Vida (formerly known as Arvicris, short for Artes Visuais Cristãs) is a Brazilian Christian company founded in 1954 by a group of missionaries who had come to Brazil from Marburg, Germany. The company is mostly known for the comic series Smilingüido, which spawned a series of merchandise and direct-to-video films.

1st Logo (1995)

Logo: On a black background, yellow-green gradient text reading "ARTES VISUAIS CRISTÃS" zooms towards the upper center of the screen before stopping. Then, the letters "AR", "VI", and "CRIS" flip and move towards the bottom of the screen one-by-one, making the word "ARVICRIS". The screen then wipes to another screen with the finished logo and the words "apresenta" below it. It stays like this for 4 seconds before fading to black.

Technique: Amiga computer animation done in-house.

Music/Sounds: A dreamy synth tune, with notes being heard as the text forms. When the wipe transition occurs, another synth is heard.

Availability: Extinct. It can only be seen on the 1995 direct-to-video film Smilingüido in Yellow Fad, which went out-of-print in 2011 in order to make way for a remade version.

2nd Logo (2002-2008)

Logo: We fade into a black background with three red squares and three yellow squares arranged together in a pattern on a wooden frame. After the logo finishes fading in, the squares gradually start rapidly flipping around, forming the word "VÍDEOS". After that, text reading "Luz e Vida" pops towards the screen before retracting to the center. A flash of light then appears and quickly moves towards the right side of the logo, before the logo fades to black.

Technique: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: A flute tune as the "VÍDEOS" text appears, followed by a synth note as the

Availability: Common. It can be found on the direct-to-video films Smilingüido in The Invasion, Smilingüido in Ant's Story, and Smilingüido in Ant's Story 2.
