fXM: Movies from Fox

(October 31, 1994-February 29, 2000)

Logo: We see some close-ups of a circular stage-like 3-D structure with the FX logo on one side: a giant "M" is on the other. Then we zoom out to reveal that the bottom of the structure says "MOVIES FROM FOX".

Variants: There were other variants where the structure was in a different color, depending on the genre of the following film:

  • Green: Comedy
  • Blue: Musical
  • Purple: Drama
  • Gray: Action
  • Red: Romance
  • Orange: Best of

Technique: CGI. This was done by Hatmaker Films in Boston, MA.

Music/Sounds: Depends on the variant, but generally a remix of the Cinemascope version of the 20th Century Fox theme.

  • Comedy: A cartoony, kazoo version of the fanfare with other cartoon sound effects.
  • Musical: A jazzy and upbeat, big band version of the fanfare.
  • Drama: A suspenseful, mysterious-sounding version of the fanfare using woodwing stings.
  • Action: A dramatic version of the fanfare.
  • Romance: A slower-paced, romantic version of the fanfare using violins.
  • Best of: A more orchestral and prestigious version of the fanfare.

Availability: Extinct.

Fox Movie Channel

1st ID (March 1, 2000-2005)

Logo: We see the regular 20th Century Fox structure on its side, but then the camera pans and it reveals that the wordmark is replaced by "FOX MOVIE CHANNEL" against an orange background. As the camera sits in its position, it brightens and the byline "MOVIES FROM 20TH CENTURY FOX" fades in below.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, it lacks the byline.
  • A variant exists that was used as a bumper, which starts with the Twentieth Century Pictures logo, until it flashes to the version that succeeded it, and we go through most of the Fox logos that had been used up until that point. Then we see the FMC logo as usual.

Technique: CGI. This logo was animated by Fabrice Maurel.

Music/Sounds: A remixed version of the 20th Century Fox fanfare.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • The variant had a synth drone sound, followed by the 1994 TCF fanfare.
  • The Comedy bumper had a comedic tune played by organs, followed by a redone version of the 20th Century Fox Television fanfare.
  • The Action bumper had a menacing and suspenseful fanfare, followed by another remixed version of the fanfare.
  • The Fox Prime bumper had an extended and more majestic version of the fanfare.

Availability: Extinct.
