Background

Blaine & Blake Ltd. was a Taiwanese film production company.

1st Logo (March 28, 1990-June 28, 1991)

Visuals: On a black background, a golden B with filmstrip holes on the left zooms in. Before it stops, trails of it come from both horizontal sides and go to the center, or, where the B is, and then others from the vertical sides come and do the same. This happens again with all sides and trails. The B crossfades into the logo, which is the same B from before, with another B behind it. The logo shines as the background turns black/blue gradient, and the red Chinese text "香港樂大電影製作有限公司" fades in while the English name "BLAINE AND BLAKE LTD." zooms out after a few seconds.

Technique: Backlit cel animation.

Audio: An abridged version of the stock track "Laserdrive (A)" by Graham de Wilde, which is a dramatic synth fanfare accompanied with whooshes. This is also accompanied with ascending/descending synth twinkles, which are taken from "Star Flight" by Paddy Kingsland.

Audio Variant: The US release of Island of Fire (there called The Prisoner) has the logo silent.

Availability: Appeared on two Taiwanese movies: Island of Fire (also known as The Prisoner in the U.S.), and Qian ren zhan.

2nd Logo (1990s?)

Visuals: On a blue-black gradient background, the entire logo fades in, with Chinese characters above the company name with "BLAINE" misspelled as "BIAINE". The logo shines for a bit, before cutting to the opening of the film.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: A synth fanfare that sounds dreamy.

Availability: This was only seen on the Taiwanese cut of Island of Fire.
