Background

Avo Film was a distribution company started by Gloria Bulath around 1947.

1st Logo (1960s-1986?)

Visuals: On a black background, a circular psychedelic pattern starts to form, wrapping around in multiple colors. The word "AVO" zooms out letter-by-letter in a large cartoonish-looking font to the left side of the screen, with the "V" placed higher up, and "FILM" zooms up next to it to make ""AVO FILM". A odd-looking symbol, formed from the letters in "AVO" zooms out to the right of it, and below it, "presenta" appears letter-by-letter below it, and then entire logo fades out, leaving the background for a second.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: A 6-note trumpet fanfare plays throughout, which abruptly ends with a tense drum section.

Availability: Seen on the Italian print of Naked Girl Killed in the Park, Paura, and other films and early VHS tapes from the era. Also seen on Italian Super 8 prints of Goldorak, Mazinger Z, Grendizer, and Space Pirate Captain Harlock.

2nd Logo (1986?-2003)

Visuals: On a black background with zooming stars, the red text "una presentazione" fades in at the upper center, tilted slightly to the right. Then, the letters for "AVO", in a rounded abstract font with a chrome texture in it, fly in from all sides of the screen. The dot for the "A" is also separate from the rest, and the "O" is just a circle. After "AVO" forms up, "FILM" in the same font swings up from the right all in one piece, and then settles next to "AVO", forming "AVOFILM".

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A soft synth theme.

Availability: Found on various Italian tapes of horror movies, such as The Gates of Hell (also known as City of the Living Dead), Deep Blood, and Shocking Dark (also known as Bruno Mattei's Terminator II). Also seen on several children's mockbusters, like Mu-Lan.

3rd Logo (2003-2010s?)

Visuals: On a white background, six drawings of various objects, representing the different formats media is in, fade in one by one at the bottom of the screen. The objects are, in the following order:

A sheet with a conductor's wand (music).
A film camera (film).
A open book (books).
A disc (DVD).
A tall box with holes on the side (VHS).
A megaphone with lines coming out of it like noise.

Above it all, a torn red filmstrip fades in and slowly zooms in, containing the Avo Film logo from before in a stacked, white outline form as well as "E D I Z I O N I" below. Before the logo finishes, a URL appears below the objects.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A held ethereal synth note plays out the entire thing, followed by a whoosh for the symbols appearing. A faint 5-note tune can be heard when the logo appears.

Availability: Seen on DVDs released by the company, such as all Italian Thomas & Friends DVDs from 2007-2009, and The New York Ripper.
