Background

Asociación Mexicana de Video was a company that released most of the Universal, Paramount, Warner Home Video and DreamWorks VHS and DVD releases, including Nickelodeon material. It was established in 1999 after moving distribution away from CIC Video. AMV also released children's material from Nelvana, and HIT Entertainment, among others. The company closed in 2005 for legal reasons.

Logo (1999-2005 [1999-2014 for Tycoon releases])

Visuals: A rusty metal door opens up to a grey background as prohibition signs emerge one by one. Then the phrases "PIRATERÍA DELITO GRAVE" "PIRATERÍA CRIMEN CON PRISIÓN" and "PIRATERÍA PRISIÓN SIN FIANZA" show up in black and yellow. Then, it transitions to the company's initials "amv" forming and shining as the company's name in all lowercase letters and a red line fades in below, and then the metal door from the beginning of the logo closes up.z

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Three hammering sounds and a whoosh as the light passes through. There is a synth drone, with another whoosh as we "flip" to the other screen. A metal scrape-like sound is heard as the light passes through the "amv". When the logo "closes up", a shutting sound is heard.

Availability: Seen on Mexican VHS tapes. It was also spotted on a few DVDs. [Examples?]
