(completely eliminating Ashley's comment because 1. it is malformed and ruins the formatting, set up your vote so it actually fits the section; 2. is illegal in the voting process as you cannot vote twice; 3. is used as a basis to throw in several unrelated topics (start a new section if you want a new proposal) and 4 is used to be uncivil in a way that was going to make the vote thrown out regardless. In other words completely useless.)

Since MDY and DMY date formats are being used accordingly, why not use the YMD date format as well?

Back in February, before I joined the Miraheze site, there was a RfC proposal involving use of date formats according to country of origin. The proposal was passed of course, but one date format was not brought up in that proposal: the year-month-day format used in Japan.

Given how American, Canadian, and Filipino logos and other such audiovisual things must use the MDY format (i.e. September 1, 2023) and British and Australian audiovisual things, including logos, must use the DMY format (i.e. 1 September 2023), why not require Japanese logos and what not (e.g. Studio Ghibli and Capcom) to use the YMD format (i.e. 2023 September 1)?

Oppose

  1. Oppose I believe it should be the other way around. Allowing any kind of date format to be used makes nn/nn/nn cases ambiguous, potentially causing trouble for editors and readers. I want to make it known that this serves as both a counterpoint to this and the already passed RfC; it makes no sense to oppose a third format without opposing a second format. 2. Oppose per Chloe. Logoarto (talk) 09:50, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
  3. Oppose Per above. I feel like this is one of the situations where consistency is more important than appeasing every single group. Eternity Media Group (talk) 09:56, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
  4. Oppose per everyone else in this section. Charlie179 (talk) 10:07, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
