Audiovisual Identity Database:Requests for Comment/New designs for wiki message boxes

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Recently, I've been contemplating a redesign of the message boxes used on the wiki, particularly due to the fact that some templates, for example the recently-added Guidance boxes look out of place when comparing it to the AVID design influences (such as the Credits button). So since last week, I got to work, and I've come up with something.

In my proposed redesign, I removed the outline, and widened the left bar. This design's main goal is to differentiate itself from Wikipedia-style message boxes, and add a modern, flat feel to it. The icon that will appear next to the text, will typically be in minimal style, and colored black. The text will also be streamlined, with the head text being smaller. My design takes a lot of influences from Windows 11's "Mica" visual design, while still staying consistent to the new AVID design influences.

There are four possible color schemes of this new design:
Critical warning - White bar + red background (Inverted)

Warning - Red bar

Content - Yellow bar

Notice - Blue bar

Mascots will be allowed for use as images in the boxes, however, prefer not to be 3D renders. I will allow as much 2D interpretation of them as possible.

I have already prepared MediaWiki versions of these designs, to look as close to these as possible. One example of such, with the guidance boxes, can be shown in these links below.

  • Support for the boxes but  Abstain for the mascot part. We could have the mascots be both 3D and 2D like how Ace is in the PossibleFake template. (USER TALK!) 15:22, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
Wouldn't it be inconsistent though? And I feel like having them in 3D kinda defeats the point of this RfC (which pushes for stylized 2D icons). · Talk · Edits 16:05, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
Why do we need stylized icons? (USER TALK!) 16:18, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
It's for a more modern aesthetic. And it looks better to boot, at least to me. I'm not interested in arguing. · Talk · Edits 16:24, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
