Audiovisual Identity Database:Requests for Comment/New/Update Block Meter

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Today I am here requesting we make a new "Block O Meter" type thing to be less harsh to noobs.

Besides our trolls and sockers, we should rate our blocks based on the following chart.

  • Warning
  • Second Warning
  • (NEW) Third Warning. This will be their final warning just in case they don't get the memo.
  • (NEW) Hour-ish Block. A whole hour to reflect on what they did. User returns to editing after the hour of reading the rules.
  • 24 Hour (1 Day) Block.
  • 76 Hour (3 Day) Block.
  • 168 Hour (1 Week) Block.
  • (NEW) 336 Hour (2 week) Block. At this point they should get the memo to stop
  • 720 Hour (1 Month) Block.
  • (NEW) 2160 (2 Month) Block. This will be the user's final chance and warning.
  • Indefinite (Permanent) Block.

This chart will give the user 11 chances to make this right. If they don't live up to the 11, they get permanently block from the site. By the way, this won't apply to our average trolls and sock puppets, they get immediately Perma blocked.

  1. Not opposed to the idea, but shouldn't admins make their best judgement on what block time fits the bill? Additionally, I would oppose the year-long ban, as at that point, it's basically indefinite. Maybe replace that with an indefinite block with appeals after 1 year. Just some food for thought. ok (lets talks) 02:36, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
but some admins might be too hard on new users who don't know what the guide is (lets talks) 02:38, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
If an admin is being too harsh to new contributors, they should probably be given the boot. A good admin would redirect contributors to the correct steps to take, without instantly resorting to the ban hammer. If a user ignores the warning/doesn't listen, then they can be blocked. --Blad (talkcontribsglobal) 12:36, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
I just want people to have more chances before being Perma banned (lets talks) 15:05, 18 November 2022 (UTC)

Oppose the one we have works fine. MinistrycraftEntertainment (talk) 07:22, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
