Background

ABC Productions is the production arm of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.



1st Logo (1965-1974)

Visuals: Over the last shot of the show on the bottom left corner of the screen, there is the print ABC Lissajous figure logo of the time.

Technique: Luminance key effects.

Audio: Unknown.

Availability: It's seen on Adventure Island.

2nd Logo (1974-2001)

Visuals: Over the last shot of the show, there is the print ABC logo of the time with "ABC-TV" above. A copyright notice is often shown below.

Variant: "ABC-TV" would be absent shows after 1983, when the Australian Broadcasting Commission became the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Technique: Luminance key or digital effects.

Audio: The ending theme of the program.

Availability: Seen on various Aussie programs like Bananas in Pyjamas and Playschool.

3rd Logo (2002-2018)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the company name and the copyright year. A small silver ring fades in and twists itself into the ABC logo.

Variants:

  • Starting in 2011, the text "ABC" fades in below after the animation, which is different.
  • In later years, the text was changed to "Produced in association with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation" set above the logo.
  • There is a still variant in which the text reads "ABC TELEVISION" instead of "ABC".
  • Instead of being it in a black background, it is in a blue background.
  • Sometimes, the text was changed to "Developed and Produced in association with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation" set on top of the logo.

4th Logo (2018-)

Visuals: On a black background, the 1970s Lisaajous curve appears with "ABC" below in the custom ABC Sans typeface.

Availability: Seen at the end of most ABC productions since 2018, one notable exception being Play School which just ends with a copyright notice.

5th Logo (2021?-)

Visuals: On a grey gradient, the 70s Lissajous curve draws in and the text "ABC ORIGINAL" appears below.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The opening theme.

Availability: Appears at the beginning of the revived Spicks and Specks.
